The Bharatiya Janata Party secured 55 seats out of 100 in Kota's municipal elections, while the Congress managed 39 and independents four. Counting in two wards is on hold due to EVM glitches.
Kota's municipal corporation elections concluded with the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging as the clear front‑runner, capturing 55 of the 100 contested wards. The party's performance gave it a comfortable majority over its rivals.
The Indian National Congress trailed with 39 seats, while four wards were won by independent candidates. The distribution of seats reflects a strong urban foothold for the BJP in Rajasthan's second‑largest city.
However, the final tally remains incomplete as the counting process in Ward 20 and Ward 87 has been suspended following reported electronic voting machine (EVM) malfunctions. Election officials have announced that the results for these two wards will be announced once the technical issues are resolved.
The municipal election outcome is expected to shape local governance priorities, including infrastructure development, water supply, and waste management, for the next five‑year term.
