BIMSTEC has announced a call for new members to bolster its vigilance against financial crimes across the region.

BIMSTEC, the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi‑Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation, has issued a statement inviting new members to join the organization in its efforts to curb financial crimes.
The call comes as the group seeks to enhance its collective capacity to detect and prevent money laundering, tax evasion and other illicit financial activities.
Member states have highlighted the importance of a unified approach, noting that cross‑border financial crimes pose a growing threat to regional stability.
The BIMSTEC Secretariat said that the expansion would allow for greater information sharing and coordinated action among participating countries.
