Bill Maher told the incoming owners of HBO not to take President Donald Trump’s social‑media remarks about him seriously.
Bill Maher, the American political commentator and host of HBO’s "Real Time," addressed the newly appointed owners of the network in a recent statement. He cautioned them against giving credence to remarks made by former President Donald Trump on social media, which had targeted Maher personally. Maher emphasized that the tweets were politically motivated and did not reflect any factual basis.
The talk show host highlighted the importance of maintaining editorial independence for HBO, especially as the network transitions to new leadership. He urged the owners to focus on the channel’s programming standards rather than being swayed by external political commentary.
Maher’s comments come amid ongoing tensions between Trump and several media personalities who have been critical of his policies. While no further details were provided, the statement underscores the broader debate over the influence of political figures on entertainment platforms.
