The Bilaspur police arrested a key heroin supplier from Amritsar, disrupting an inter‑state trafficking network that earlier led to a seizure in Usalapur.
Bilaspur police announced the arrest of a principal heroin supplier hailing from Amritsar, marking a significant blow to an inter‑state narcotics network operating between Punjab and Chhattisgarh. The suspect was taken into custody during a coordinated raid, officials said, though the exact date of the operation was not disclosed.
The crackdown follows an earlier seizure in the town of Usalapur, where police detained a suspect carrying 11.73 grams of heroin. That incident highlighted the presence of a broader distribution chain linking northern and central Indian regions.
Senior officers described the arrest as a milestone in their ongoing anti‑drug campaign, emphasizing that dismantling the supply chain at its source will curb further inflow of the narcotic into the state. Investigations remain underway to identify additional members of the network and to trace the routes used for smuggling.
