Bikaner police have opened an investigation after a local jeweler reported an extortion demand of Rs 5 crore. The jeweler said the threat was conveyed through a social‑media call originating from an international phone number and the perpetrators identified themselves with the name of the notorious Rohit Godara gang.
The victim alleged that the callers demanded the large sum in exchange for not harming his business or personal safety. He lodged a formal complaint, prompting law enforcement to register a case and begin inquiries.
Authorities are now tracing the foreign number and examining any links to the gang, which has been implicated in similar crimes across Rajasthan. The investigation remains ongoing, and police have appealed for anyone with additional information to come forward.
