The Biharsharif municipal corporation began a campaign to curb stray‑dog incidents, capturing six dogs with a specialised dog‑catcher vehicle on day one.

Biharsharif city officials have launched an operation to address the growing menace of stray dogs that have been reported to cause public anxiety. A trained team, equipped with a dog‑catcher vehicle, was deployed early in the morning to locate and safely capture the animals.

On the first day of the drive, the team succeeded in apprehending six stray dogs. The captured dogs were taken to a holding area and subsequently released beyond the city limits, as per the municipal protocol for stray‑animal management.

The municipal corporation said the initiative will continue until the number of stray dogs in the city is reduced to a manageable level, and that further resources, including additional vehicles and personnel, will be mobilised if required.

Authorities have urged residents to report sightings of stray dogs and to avoid feeding them in public spaces, emphasizing that cooperation from the community is essential for the campaign’s success.

The move reflects a broader effort by local bodies across Bihar to balance animal welfare concerns with public safety, following several complaints from residents about dog‑related incidents.
