Bihar’s prized Makhana has been shipped to Greece, a first for the state’s agricultural export. The milestone was highlighted in PM Modi’s 139th ‘Man Ki Baat’ session.
During the 139th edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Man Ki Baat’, the focus was on Bihar’s Makhana and its recent export to Greece, underscoring the crop’s growing international appeal. The state’s agricultural sector has seen a surge in interest as Makhana, known for its health benefits, finds a new market abroad.
Bihar’s Makhana farmers and exporters celebrated the achievement, noting that the shipment to Greece represents a significant step toward global recognition. The move is expected to open doors for further exports to European markets.
BJP state president Sanjay Saravagi, who addressed the session, highlighted the importance of ‘Vocal for Local’ initiatives, emphasizing how local products like Makhana can contribute to India’s economic growth. He also praised the state’s cleanliness efforts, linking them to the product’s quality.
The export is part of a broader strategy to promote Bihar’s agricultural produce on the world stage, with officials aiming to replicate this success with other crops in the coming years.
