The Bihar government has announced a comprehensive development roadmap targeting 264 urban local bodies, with a special emphasis on improving social infrastructure such as health, education and sanitation.
Patna, Nov 7 (Indian Masterminds) – The state administration of Bihar released a detailed development roadmap that will guide 264 urban local bodies over the next few years. The plan prioritises social infrastructure, aiming to upgrade facilities in health, education, water supply and sanitation across municipal areas.
According to the roadmap, each urban body will receive a tailored action plan based on its current service gaps. Funding is expected to be sourced from state allocations, central government schemes and public‑private partnerships, with periodic monitoring by a newly formed oversight committee.
Officials said the focus on social sectors is intended to raise living standards, reduce urban poverty and support the state’s broader goal of inclusive growth. The roadmap also outlines capacity‑building programmes for municipal officials to improve planning and execution.
Implementation is slated to begin in the upcoming fiscal year, with quarterly reviews to assess progress and re‑allocate resources as needed. The government expects measurable improvements in health outcomes, school enrolment and basic services within the first two years.
