A unique Shiva temple in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district submerges in the Bagmati river during the monsoon season. The temple remains closed during the month of Sawan due to the rising water level.
The Baba Dhaneshwar Nath temple, located in Dhanour village of Katra block in Muzaffarpur district, is famous for its unique tradition. During the monsoon season, the water level of the Bagmati river rises, and the temple gets submerged in the river. As a result, the temple remains closed during the month of Sawan. The local people believe that Lord Shiva is in a state of meditation during this period, and the river's water performs the jalabhishek of the deity.
