The Bihar Special Task Force detained Shriram Sah, leader of the Shutterkatwa gang, in Motihari and seized jewelry and cash linked to a multi‑crore diamond and gold theft in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai.
The Bihar Special Task Force (STF) carried out a major operation on Tuesday, arresting Shriram Sah, the chief of the Shutterkatwa criminal network, from the Chhatouni area of Motihari. The arrest follows a months‑long probe into a high‑value theft that targeted diamond and gold items in Kharghar, a suburb of Navi Mumbai.
During the raid, STF agents recovered a substantial cache of stolen jewellery, including diamond‑set pieces and gold ornaments, along with a significant amount of cash. Preliminary estimates place the value of the recovered assets in the multiple‑crore rupee range.
Police officials said the seized items are directly linked to the Kharghar robbery, which had shocked local residents and businesses. The STF has not disclosed further details about the investigation, but confirmed that the operation marks a critical breakthrough in dismantling the Shutterkatwa gang's interstate criminal activities.
