The Economic Offences Unit (EOYU) of Bihar Police announced that it has arrested a Sub‑Inspector and two other personnel in connection with a case involving the seizure of liquor, the use of forged vehicle number plates and an illegal auction of a motor vehicle.
The officers were detained on charges that they colluded with a syndicate to siphon off alcohol from state warehouses, falsify registration documents and facilitate the sale of a vehicle through a sham auction.
A statement from the EOYU said that the investigation began after a whistle‑blower reported irregularities in the handling of liquor consignments. The unit has recovered a significant quantity of illicit liquor and seized the forged plates.
The arrested officers are now in custody and are expected to face charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Motor Vehicles Act. The police have assured that the case will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.
