Bihar: NIB arrests health officer and data operator for Rs 8,600 bribe in Ayushman Arogya Mandir payment

The NIB team in Vaishali district seized Dr. Kamini Prasad and data operator Himanshu Kumar after catching them accepting a Rs 8,600 bribe linked to the Ayushman Arogya Mandir scheme.
A joint raid by the Bihar Monitoring Investigation Bureau (NIB) in Vaishali district resulted in the arrest of Dr. Kamini Prasad, the senior medical officer of Pathedi Belsar Primary Health Centre, and Himanshu Kumar, a data operator attached to the centre. Both were caught accepting a cash bribe of Rs 8,600 while processing payments under the Ayushman Arogya Mandir scheme.
According to the NIB report, the officials were approached by a middleman who offered the sum in exchange for facilitating the release of funds to a private beneficiary. The transaction was recorded on surveillance footage, and the officers were apprehended with the cash in hand.
The arrests underscore ongoing concerns about corruption in the implementation of central health schemes at the grassroots level. Local authorities have pledged a thorough investigation and have warned that any further attempts to manipulate the Ayushman Arogya Mandir payments will attract strict legal action.
