The Bihar state government has unveiled plans to develop a 400‑kilometre industrial corridor along the Ganga River, including proposals for new townships to boost regional growth.

Patna, Bihar – The state administration has disclosed a blueprint for a 400‑kilometre industrial corridor that will run parallel to the Ganga River. The project aims to create a continuous stretch of industrial zones, logistics hubs and supporting infrastructure to attract investment and generate employment.

The proposal also includes the development of several new townships along the corridor, intended to provide residential and commercial facilities for workers and businesses. Officials say the townships will be planned with modern amenities and connectivity to major transport networks.

The corridor is expected to leverage the strategic location of the Ganga basin, linking existing industrial clusters and enhancing the movement of goods across the state. The government has indicated that detailed feasibility studies and land acquisition processes will commence shortly.

Stakeholders from the private sector have been invited to submit proposals, and the state aims to finalize the project framework within the next fiscal year. The initiative aligns with broader efforts to accelerate industrialisation and improve the economic landscape of Bihar.

If implemented as outlined, the corridor could significantly boost the state's manufacturing output and contribute to balanced regional development, officials added.
