The Economic Offences Wing (EOU) recovered cash worth ₹52 lakh and jewellery valued at ₹35 lakh during raids on five locations across Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Munger linked to a case against a Bihar government executive engineer.

The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar conducted coordinated searches at five sites in Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Munger, acting on a case registered against a state government executive engineer. During the operation, investigators recovered cash amounting to ₹52 lakh and jewellery estimated at ₹35 lakh from the engineer's premises.

Authorities said the seized assets were found hidden in multiple compartments within the residence, prompting a deeper probe into possible misuse of public office. The EOU has lodged a formal charge sheet and the recovered items have been handed over to the state treasury for appropriate disposal.

The raid underscores the state government's intensified focus on curbing corruption and financial irregularities among officials. Senior police officials confirmed that further inquiries will examine whether the assets are linked to any illicit transactions or abuse of power.

No arrests were reported at the time of the raid, and the executive engineer has been summoned for questioning. The case is expected to proceed through the judicial system, with the EOU pledging continued vigilance in similar investigations.
