The Bihar government has launched 155 buses for inter‑state festival travel and announced plans to raise the fleet to 200 to ease pilgrim movement.
Patna – The Bihar transport ministry rolled out 155 inter‑state buses ahead of the upcoming festival season, aiming to provide smoother travel for residents returning home.
The fleet, equipped with basic amenities, will operate on key routes linking Patna with neighboring states such as Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Officials said the initiative is part of a broader effort to reduce congestion on railways and private vehicles during peak pilgrimage periods.
The department has also announced a plan to increase the number of buses to 200 by the end of the year, subject to budget allocation and driver recruitment.
The move is expected to benefit thousands of passengers and boost the state's tourism‑related revenue.
