Patna, Aug 24 2026 – Bihar’s chief minister Nitish Kumar disclosed a massive infrastructure scheme worth Rs 70,000 crore aimed at creating a 126‑kilometre marine drive on the banks of the Ganga. The proposal envisions a continuous promenade that will integrate roadways, pedestrian pathways, and recreational spaces, linking several towns and cities along the river.
The state government says the project will boost tourism, generate employment and improve flood‑resilience by incorporating modern embankment designs. Funding is expected to come from a mix of state allocations, central assistance and private‑sector participation, though exact financing details were not released.
