Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that 5 million houses have been completed in Bihar under government schemes since 2014, highlighting the state's push for rural and urban housing.

Bihar's Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary told reporters that the state has successfully constructed 5 million residential units since 2014, a milestone for the government's housing initiatives. The figure encompasses both rural and urban projects launched under schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and the state's own housing programmes.

The CM highlighted that the completed houses have provided shelter to millions of low‑income families, reducing the backlog of pending applications. He also noted that the construction drive has generated employment opportunities for local contractors and laborers.

Officials said the next phase will focus on improving the quality of construction, ensuring basic amenities, and accelerating the completion of pending units. The government plans to sustain the momentum through continued funding and coordination with central authorities.

The announcement comes as Bihar seeks to bolster its development credentials ahead of upcoming elections, positioning the housing record as a key achievement of the current administration.
