Bidar Rotary Club Celebrates Engineers and Teachers Day

Bidar: The Rotary Club of Bidar recently organized a joint celebration of Engineers and Teachers Day at Lavanya Function Hall. Professor Parameshwar Nayak, Registrar of Bidar University, inaugurated the event and emphasized the foundational role of teachers in the comprehensive development of students and society. He highlighted that teachers impart not only textbook knowledge but also cultivate curiosity, humanity, honesty, morality, culture, and good values, shaping responsible citizens.

Shivashankar Kamashetti, Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, spoke about Sir M. Visvesvaraya’s contributions as a great engineer and administrator in modern India, citing his works including the KSR dam in Mysore and the establishment of Mysore University, Bhadrawati iron and steel factory, Mysore Bank, and Kannada Sahitya Parishat. He urged all engineers to emulate Visvesvaraya's dedication, punctuality, efficiency, and integrity. Havashetti Patil, Rotary Kalyan Zone Education Coordinator and member of Karnataka Professional Civil Engineers Council, detailed Rotary Club's five decades of community service in Bidar, including health camps, environmental protection, women empowerment, and educational support.

Rotary Club President Anil Kumar Biradar stated that the event honored about 20 ideal teachers with the Rashtriya Nirman Shikshak Award and 25 engineers with the Best Engineer Award. Special recognition was given to Vinod Kumar Appe, Chairman of Bidar Urban Development Authority. Other dignitaries included Gorakhnath Chanashetti, Executive Engineer of Panchayat Raj Engineering Department, Rajkumar Sale, Assistant Executive Engineer of Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Subdivision, and Credit Association President Ravi Moolge. Dr. Dhanalakshmi Patil offered a prayer, with Sangamesh Mamashhetti welcoming attendees and former president Suresh Chanashetti presiding over the program. Wheelchairs were also distributed to differently-abled children and elderly individuals during the event.
