Bhubaneswar authorities have increased security measures across nine key locations in anticipation of the 2026 Ravan Podi festival, ensuring safety for devotees and visitors.
The 2026 Ravan Podi festival, scheduled to begin on 13th November, is expected to draw large crowds to Bhubaneswar’s temples and public spaces. In response, the city’s police and municipal departments have deployed additional personnel and set up checkpoints at nine strategic locations, including the Lingaraj Temple complex, the Jagannath Temple precinct, and the central bus stand.
Security teams will monitor entry points, conduct bag checks, and maintain a visible presence throughout the festival days. The measures aim to prevent overcrowding, manage traffic, and deter any potential incidents.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s office released a statement emphasizing the government’s commitment to public safety and cooperation with local religious bodies. "We are ensuring that the festival proceeds peacefully and that devotees can participate without fear," the statement read.
Officials anticipate that the festival will attract over 200,000 visitors, making it one of the largest religious gatherings in the state this year.
