The state government is preparing to transfer the operation of Bhopal’s inaugural paid old‑age home, Sandhya Chhaya, from Sevabharti to the Madhya Pradesh Tourism department after terminating the existing contract.
Bhopal’s first paid old‑age home, Sandhya Chhaya, which opened as the state’s pioneering senior‑care facility, is set to change its managing authority. The home, located in the capital of Madhya Pradesh, was initially operated under a contract with the private service provider Sevabharti.
The contract with Sevabharti has now been terminated, prompting the state to look for a new operator. Officials confirmed that the decision follows the completion of the agreed‑upon service period, and no further extensions have been pursued.
The Madhya Pradesh Tourism (MPT) department is being prepared to assume responsibility for day‑to‑day operations. Authorities say the handover will be formalised in the coming weeks, ensuring uninterrupted services for the residents.
Stakeholders expect that MPT’s involvement will bring greater oversight and potentially integrate the home’s activities with broader senior‑citizen welfare programmes run by the state.
