From Nov 4 to 9, six major markets in Bhopal will operate under special traffic arrangements, with vehicle entry prohibited on several old‑city roads and a one‑way system at 10‑Number Market.
The Bhopal municipal authorities have announced a temporary traffic scheme to manage the surge of shoppers during the Diwali period. Between November 4 and November 9, six key commercial zones – including the historic old‑city market areas – will operate under a special plan that restricts vehicle entry on several thoroughfares.
The directive aims to prevent congestion and ensure pedestrian safety as shoppers flock to markets for festive purchases. Vehicles will be barred from entering designated streets in the old city, and traffic police will enforce the restrictions throughout the day.
In addition, the 10‑Number Market will function as a one‑way corridor to streamline movement and reduce bottlenecks. The municipal corporation has circulated the traffic plan to local police, transport officials, and market associations, urging commuters to use public transport or park outside the restricted zones.
