Bhadohi carpet industry boosts Uttar Pradesh exports, says CM

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh emphasized that the carpet manufacturers of Bhadohi district are playing a pivotal role in the state's export portfolio. Bhadohi, often referred to as the carpet capital of India, houses a large number of small‑scale weaving units that supply hand‑knotted and hand‑tufted rugs to overseas markets. Industry officials say the district’s traditional craftsmanship, combined with recent quality‑enhancement initiatives, has helped sustain demand from Europe, the Middle East and North America. The government plans to further support the sector through skill‑development programmes and better access to credit, aiming to consolidate Bhadohi’s position in global trade.
