Bengaluru has introduced mandatory GPS tracking for over 4,500 waste collection trucks and appointed dedicated ‘Waste Wardens’ to promote awareness among residents.

Bengaluru has mandated GPS tracking for more than 4,500 vehicles that collect waste daily, as part of the city’s waste‑free technology initiative under the BMBP.

The move is aimed at enhancing the efficiency and transparency of waste management operations across the city.

In addition to the tracking requirement, the municipal administration will appoint special ‘Waste Wardens’ to raise public awareness and encourage proper waste disposal practices.

The initiative reflects Bengaluru’s commitment to improving urban sanitation and achieving a cleaner environment for its residents.
