Police investigating the Bengaluru grindstone murders say the accused tried to evade detection by attaching a press identification sticker and a newspaper banner to their vehicle.
The Karnataka police have disclosed a new detail in the ongoing investigation of the high‑profile grindstone murders in Bengaluru. According to the latest findings, the suspects attempted to conceal their movements by affixing a sticker that identified them as members of the press on their vehicle. In addition, a newspaper banner was draped over the car, creating the appearance of a media convoy.
Investigators say the ruse was designed to exploit the customary deference given to journalists, allowing the perpetrators to move through traffic and checkpoints with reduced scrutiny. The police team uncovered the disguise during a routine check of vehicles linked to the case, prompting a deeper probe into how the suspects sourced the press materials.
The investigation remains active, with authorities seeking to trace the origin of the sticker and banner, and to identify any accomplices who may have facilitated the subterfuge. No further arrests have been reported, and the police have urged the public to report any similar suspicious use of press identifiers.
