The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a review of the Indian men's squad’s performance following a 20-over defeat to England in the recent T20I series.
The BCCI convened a meeting on Monday to assess the Indian men's team after a 20-over loss to England in the third T20I of the series, which ended 119‑115 in England’s favour. The board’s review will focus on batting collapses, bowling inefficiencies and fielding lapses that cost India crucial wickets. A committee of senior selectors and coaching staff will analyse match footage, player fitness reports and opposition tactics to recommend changes in strategy and personnel.
BCCI chief executive officer Sanjay Kumar stated that the review aims to "identify gaps in preparation and execution" and to "ensure the team is better equipped for future series against top-tier opponents." He added that the findings will be presented to the national selectors before the next series against Australia. Players who were dropped from the squad, including Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan, are expected to be reassessed for potential recall.
The board’s decision comes after India’s 20‑over defeat, which saw the team fail to chase 120 runs despite early wickets. Analysts predict that the review will lead to a reshuffle of the batting order and a reassessment of the spin bowling options for the upcoming tour of the West Indies.
