The BCCI chief highlighted Jammu and Kashmir's vast pool of cricketing talent and called for better nurturing and infrastructure to develop the sport in the region.
In a recent statement, the chief of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) emphasized that the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir possesses a substantial reservoir of cricketing talent. He noted that while the region consistently produces skilled players, the lack of systematic nurturing hampers their progress to higher levels.
The official urged the BCCI and relevant authorities to invest in infrastructure, coaching programs, and talent‑identification initiatives across the valley. Strengthening local academies and providing exposure to competitive matches were cited as essential steps to unlock the full potential of young cricketers.
Stakeholders in the state's sports department welcomed the remarks, indicating that plans are already underway to upgrade facilities and collaborate with the national board. The BCCI chief’s comments are expected to accelerate efforts aimed at integrating Jammu and Kashmir more fully into the national cricketing framework.
