The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has launched a comprehensive initiative aimed at protecting the health of street dogs in Bengaluru. The program combines a citywide vaccination drive with the provision of nutritious food to the animal population.
Under the vaccination component, BBMP officials are distributing vaccines against rabies and other common canine diseases across multiple locations in the city. The campaign is scheduled to cover all major neighbourhoods where stray dogs are prevalent.
In addition to immunisation, the council has introduced a special feeding scheme. Nutrient-rich food is being supplied to street dogs at designated feeding points, ensuring they receive balanced nutrition and reducing the risk of malnutrition.
The initiative is expected to improve the overall health of the street dog community and curb the spread of disease. BBMP has pledged to monitor the program’s progress and expand the effort based on the outcomes.
