A depression forming in the Bay of Bengal is expected to cause heavy rainfall in West Bengal, Odisha and adjoining states over the next few days.
The India Meteorological Department has identified a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal that is likely to intensify into a depression. Forecasts indicate that the system will move west-northwest, bringing widespread rain to coastal and interior districts of West Bengal and Odisha.
Rainfall amounts are expected to range from 50 to 100 mm in many areas, with isolated pockets possibly receiving higher totals. Authorities have issued alerts for possible waterlogging, disruption of transport and advise residents to avoid unnecessary travel.
