The Punjab government has allocated ₹14.57 crore to refurbish 35 irrigation khals in Bathinda, aiming to improve water supply for farmers.

The state administration announced that a budget of ₹14.57 crore will be spent to renovate thirty‑five irrigation khals in Bathinda, Punjab. The project is part of a broader effort to upgrade the region’s water‑distribution network and is being overseen by the Punjab Water Resources Department.

The refurbishment work includes desilting, repairing embankments and strengthening the canal linings to reduce seepage losses. Officials expect the upgraded khals to deliver a more reliable flow of water to agricultural fields, especially during the critical sowing season.

Implementation is slated to begin next month, with completion targeted within the current fiscal year. The initiative is expected to benefit thousands of farmers in the district by enhancing irrigation efficiency and supporting crop yields.
