The second phase of Rajasthan’s gram‑panchayat elections is under way in 22 districts, with Barmer recording the fastest voter turnout while Moondwa in Nagaur lags behind.

The Election Commission has begun the second stage of Rajasthan’s gram‑panchayat elections, covering 22 districts and a total of 3,626 village councils. Voters are casting ballots for both panch members and sarpanch positions, with 21,839 candidates contesting the sarpanch seats.

Preliminary reports from polling stations show a marked variation in voting speed across the state. In Barmer district, election officials noted the highest number of votes cast per hour, indicating a brisk turnout among rural voters.

Conversely, the Moondwa area in Nagaur district recorded the slowest pace, with fewer voters arriving at the booths. Election officials attribute the disparity to local factors such as weather conditions and voter awareness drives.

The commission continues to monitor the process, ensuring that voting proceeds smoothly and that results will be announced after the completion of counting across all 22 districts.
