The chief of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha inaugurated the Akshar‑Purushottam Sanskrit Pathshala in London, the first such institution established abroad.

London – The head of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha formally opened the Akshar‑Purushottam Sanskrit Pathshala on Saturday, marking the launch of the first dedicated Sanskrit school run by the organization outside India. The inauguration ceremony was attended by local devotees, community leaders and representatives of the diaspora who gathered to witness the event.

The new Pathshala aims to provide structured Sanskrit education to children and adults in the United Kingdom, following the traditional curriculum prescribed by BAPS. Organisers said the centre will offer regular classes, workshops and cultural activities designed to deepen participants' understanding of Hindu scriptures and heritage.

BAPS officials highlighted that the initiative reflects the organization’s broader mission to promote spiritual and cultural learning among Indian communities worldwide. The Pathshala is located in a purpose‑built facility in central London, equipped with classrooms, a library and digital resources to support modern teaching methods.

The chief emphasized the importance of preserving Sanskrit as a living language and expressed confidence that the school will become a hub for cultural exchange and religious education among the diaspora.

Further sessions are scheduled to begin next month, with plans to expand enrolment as interest grows across the city’s multicultural population.
