The Rajasthan State Election Commission has announced the date for Banswara’s 2026 municipal council polls, covering 60 wards and about 94,000 registered voters, with Congress, BJP and a third party vying for control.
The Rajasthan State Election Commission released the schedule for the 2026 Banswara Municipal Council elections, confirming that voters in 60 newly demarcated wards will cast their ballots later this year. The electorate comprises roughly 94,000 registered voters across the city.
The recent delimitation exercise has redrawn ward boundaries, prompting political parties to scout fresh candidates alongside established local leaders. Party workers are intensifying outreach as they seek to align their ticket with the altered demographic profile of each ward.
Congress, which has suffered two consecutive defeats to the Bharatiya Janata Party in the council, is now focused on reclaiming the board. The BJP aims to defend its recent gains, while a third regional outfit has also entered the fray, making the contest a three‑cornered battle for control of Banswara’s local government.
