Actress Banita Sandhu has been confirmed to play a British‑born Indian environmentalist in Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie “Samuk”.
Banita Sandhu’s involvement in Akshay Kumar’s next project, titled “Samuk”, was announced this week. The film, produced by Kumar’s own banner, will feature the actress in the role of a British‑born Indian environmentalist, marking a departure from her usual romantic‑drama assignments.
The character is described as a climate activist who returns to India to champion sustainable development in rural communities. Industry insiders say the role offers Sandhu a chance to explore a socially relevant narrative and could broaden her appeal among environmentally conscious audiences.
“Samuk” is currently in the pre‑production phase, with shooting slated to begin later this year in locations across northern India. While a release date has not been set, the film is expected to hit theatres in 2025, aligning with the growing trend of Indian cinema tackling ecological themes.
Akshay Kumar, who will star alongside Sandhu, expressed optimism about the project’s potential to spark public discourse on climate issues. The collaboration underscores both actors’ willingness to experiment with content-driven cinema.
The announcement has generated buzz on social media, with fans and environmental groups alike eager to see how the story will blend entertainment with advocacy.
