Police in Jharkhand detained an undocumented Bangladeshi citizen after he was caught pulling the emergency chain on a train traveling towards Assam.

Jharkhand police arrested an individual identified as an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant after he was observed pulling the emergency chain on a passenger train bound for Assam. The incident occurred on a scheduled service passing through the state, prompting immediate intervention by railway security personnel.
The suspect was taken into custody at the nearest railway police outpost, where officials confirmed his lack of valid Indian documentation. Authorities said the chain‑pulling act not only disrupted train operations but also posed a safety risk to passengers.
Under the Indian Railways Act, tampering with emergency equipment is a punishable offence, and the detainee now faces charges related to unlawful entry, chain pulling, and endangering public safety. The case is being forwarded to the district magistrate for further legal action.
Police have reiterated that such incidents underscore the need for vigilant monitoring of illegal migration and strict enforcement of railway safety protocols across the network.
