A new ‘Cycle to Work’ campaign in Bangalore’s Electronic City requires IT employees to commute by bicycle one day a week, aiming to raise health and environmental awareness.

Bangalore’s Electronic City has launched a ‘Cycle to Work’ environmental campaign targeting the city’s large IT workforce. The initiative mandates that participating employees use a bicycle to travel to their office at least one day a week.

The program is being run in collaboration with several major companies based in Electronic City, which have jointly organized the challenge to encourage sustainable commuting habits.

Organisers say the weekly bicycle commute is intended to foster greater health consciousness among IT professionals while also reducing the carbon footprint associated with daily travel.

By making bicycle use a compulsory part of the workweek, the campaign seeks to create a lasting shift in employee behaviour and set a precedent for similar green initiatives across the Indian tech sector.
