Tribal leader Bandhu Tirkey cautioned that any delimitation exercise in Jharkhand could trigger organized resistance from tribal communities.

Bandhu Tirkey, a prominent tribal representative, has publicly warned that the upcoming delimitation of electoral constituencies in Jharkhand may face strong opposition from tribal groups. He argued that the redrawing of boundaries could dilute tribal vote banks and undermine long‑standing safeguards for indigenous populations.

The statement comes as the state government, in coordination with the Election Commission, prepares to submit a delimitation proposal to the central authorities. While officials maintain that the exercise aims to balance population disparities, tribal leaders contend that it risks marginalising communities that have historically relied on reserved seats for political representation.

Tirkey urged the administration to engage directly with tribal councils and civil society before finalising any changes. He indicated that failure to address these concerns could lead to coordinated protests, legal challenges, and a broader movement to protect tribal rights in the state.
