Senior politician Baltej Pannu criticised the proposed 2026 amendments to the Chandigarh Health Service Rules, saying they form part of a systematic effort to dilute Punjab’s entitlements.

Baltej Pannu, a prominent political figure from Punjab, publicly objected to the draft changes slated for the Chandigarh Health Service Rules 2026. He argued that the revisions are not merely administrative but are embedded in a broader strategy aimed at weakening Punjab’s statutory rights.

According to Pannu, the proposed rulebook alterations would gradually chip away at the privileges and resources that Punjab historically enjoys in the union territory of Chandigarh, especially in the health sector. He warned that such incremental changes could set a precedent for further encroachments.

The statement comes amid growing concerns among Punjab stakeholders about the central government's approach to inter‑state arrangements. While officials have not detailed the specific amendments, they have indicated that the revisions are intended to streamline health service delivery across Chandigarh.

Pannu called for a transparent review process and urged both state and union authorities to safeguard Punjab’s interests before any legislative action is taken.
