After the death of around 24 children in Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh’s health administration dismissed the district vaccination and malaria officers and launched a focused immunisation and malaria‑prevention drive across 38 villages.

Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh reported the tragic loss of roughly 24 children, a toll that has drawn immediate attention from state authorities. The deaths, linked to a suspected malaria outbreak, prompted an urgent response from the health department.

Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla visited the affected families, expressed condolences, and ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatalities. As part of the corrective action, the district’s vaccination officer and malaria control officer were relieved of their duties.

The state government has also announced a special immunisation campaign targeting vulnerable children in the region. Simultaneously, malaria‑prevention measures are being intensified in 38 villages surrounding the affected area, including vector‑control activities and distribution of preventive supplies.

Health officials emphasized that these steps aim to contain any further spread of the disease and restore confidence in public health services across Balaghat.
