A court in Mohali cancelled the bail of the individual accused of fabricating a forged General Power of Attorney for an NRI land plot fraud.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court in Mohali has withdrawn the bail granted to a person alleged to have prepared a counterfeit General Power of Attorney (GPA) used in an NRI plot fraud case. The bail cancellation was ordered after the prosecution presented evidence that the forged GPA was central to the scheme, which involved selling land plots to non‑resident Indians under false pretences.
According to court records, the suspect had submitted the falsified GPA to facilitate the illegal transfer of ownership for a plot located in the Mohali region. Investigators say the document was used to mislead buyers and financial institutions, resulting in substantial monetary loss for the victims.
The court, presiding over the case, emphasized that the seriousness of document fraud and its impact on NRI investors warranted the revocation of bail.
