On the Ashtami of Shravana Shukla Paksha, the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain performed a special Bhasma Aarti, adorning Baba Mahakal with bhang, bel leaves, tripund and a trinetra after a Panchamrit abhishek.
Ujjain's historic Mahakaleshwar Temple observed the Ashtami tithi of Shravana Shukla Paksha with a distinctive Bhasma Aarti in the early morning. The ritual, a core part of the temple's daily worship, featured a special decoration of the deity Baba Mahakal. After the customary Panchamrit abhishek, priests applied a mixture of bhang, bel leaves, tripund and a trinetra to the idol, creating a striking visual form. The adornment was followed by the offering of sacred ash (bhasma) to complete the ceremony. Temple authorities noted that such elaborate embellishments are reserved for auspicious days, underscoring the cultural and spiritual significance of the event for devotees.
