Baba Mahakal adorned with silver crown and mund mala during Ujjain's Bhasma Aarti

At 4 a.m. on Monday, Mahakaleshwar Temple’s Bhasma Aarti featured a special puja where Baba Mahakal was anointed with Panchamrit, crowned with silver and draped in a mund mala, drawing devotees.
The Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain began its early‑morning Bhasma Aarti at 4 a.m. on Monday, a ritual that marks the start of the day for devotees of the Shiva deity. The ceremony proceeded with the customary chanting and offering of ash, creating a solemn atmosphere for worshippers gathered at the shrine.
Following the standard rites, priests performed a Panchamrit abhishek, bathing the idol of Baba Mahakal with a mixture of five sacred substances.
