On the Shravana Shukla Paksha Dashami, a 3 a.m. bhisam aarti at Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple saw Baba Mahakal decorated with bhang, a silver crown, moon motifs, trishul and a garland of munda flowers.

The Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain observed the traditional bhisam aarti at 3 a.m. on the auspicious day of Shravana Shukla Paksha Dashami. Priests performed a Panchamrit abhishek on the idol of Baba Mahakal, following which the deity was embellished with a range of symbolic ornaments.

The adornments included a coating of bhang, a silver crown, representations of the moon, a trishul and a trinetra motif, as well as a garland made of munda flowers. These elements are customary in the temple’s festive rituals, intended to invoke divine blessings during the holy month.

Devotees gathered in large numbers to witness the ceremony, which is considered a significant event in the temple’s annual calendar. The elaborate decoration underscores the cultural importance of the Mahakaleshwar shrine in Madhya Pradesh’s religious landscape.
