Ayodhya, the historic city in Uttar Pradesh, has begun extensive decorations in anticipation of Deepotsav‑2026, a major religious celebration. Municipal crews and volunteers are installing lighting fixtures and decorative elements throughout the town to create a festive ambience.
The centerpiece of the preparations is the planned illumination of 30 lakh diyas, a scale of lighting that underscores the event’s cultural significance. Organisers have coordinated the placement of the oil lamps at temples, public squares and major thoroughfares, aiming for a synchronized lighting ceremony.
Authorities expect the massive display to draw devotees from across the region, turning the city into a night‑time spectacle of devotion and unity. The lighting is scheduled to commence at dusk on the opening day of Deepotsav‑2026, marking the start of several days of religious programmes and cultural performances.
Local officials have emphasized that safety measures are in place to manage the large number of lamps and the expected crowds, ensuring a smooth and secure celebration for all participants.
