Indian Railways has commissioned automatic block signalling on the Bina‑Bhopal section, finishing the 64‑km stretch up to Gulabganj to improve safety and train flow.
The Bina‑Bhopal railway corridor in Madhya Pradesh has received a new automatic block signalling system, a move aimed at making train operations safer and more fluid. The upgrade covers a 64‑kilometre segment from Bina to Gulabganj, and the work has now been fully completed, according to the railway source.
Automatic block signalling replaces manual signal control with electronic interlocking, allowing trains to run at closer intervals while maintaining strict safety margins. This technology reduces the likelihood of signal failures and enables quicker clearance of tracks after a train passes.
Railway officials indicated that the new system will increase line capacity, potentially allowing more trains to be scheduled on the busy Bina‑Bhopal route. Passengers can expect smoother journeys with fewer delays, especially during peak travel periods.
The project forms part of a broader push by Indian Railways to modernise signalling across the network, aligning with national goals of enhancing rail efficiency and safety.
