An audit report has uncovered that 71% of MGNREGA works in Jammu Kashmir are experiencing wage payment delays, raising concerns about the scheme's implementation.

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has released a report indicating significant wage payment delays in MGNREGA works across Jammu Kashmir. Findings reveal that 71% of the works have not received timely wages, with delays ranging from a few weeks to several months. The audit attributes these setbacks to administrative bottlenecks, inadequate payroll systems, and delays in sanctioning payments by district authorities. In response, the state government has pledged to expedite pending payments and implement corrective measures, while the CAG urges regular monitoring to prevent recurrence.
