Around a hundred assistant professor aspirants gathered at Lok Bhawan in Patna, staging a march to press the state government for swift recruitment measures and warning against compromising their future.

Earlier this week, a group of assistant professor candidates assembled outside Lok Bhawan in Patna and began a peaceful march. The demonstrators, estimated to be close to a hundred, carried placards and chanted slogans demanding that the Bihar government accelerate the recruitment process for vacant teaching posts.

The protesters argued that repeated assurances from the authorities have not translated into concrete action, leaving them in a state of uncertainty about their careers. They warned that any further delay would amount to a compromise of their professional future and urged the government not to play with their aspirations.

Recruitment for assistant professor positions in Bihar’s universities and colleges has been pending for several months, creating a backlog of qualified candidates awaiting appointment. The delay has been attributed to procedural bottlenecks and budgetary constraints, according to sources familiar with the matter.

As of now, the state administration has not issued an official response to the march. Officials are expected to review the grievances and may convene a meeting with representatives of the candidates to discuss a timeline for the pending appointments.

The demonstration reflects growing frustration among academic job seekers in the state, highlighting the broader challenge of aligning educational staffing needs with governmental processes.
