The centuries‑old Assamese Namghar tradition will establish a new center in Pune, Maharashtra, marking a significant cultural exchange.
The Assamese Namghar, a traditional community prayer hall that has served as a spiritual and social hub for centuries, is set to open a new location in Pune. The move aims to bring the unique cultural and religious practices of Assam to a wider audience in Maharashtra.
Officials from the Assam government and local Pune authorities have collaborated to secure a suitable site for the Namghar. The new center will feature traditional architecture and will host regular prayers, festivals, and community gatherings.
This initiative is part of a broader effort to promote inter‑state cultural ties. The Namghar in Pune is expected to attract both Assamese expatriates and local residents interested in learning about Assam’s heritage.
