✍️ News18 🗓 26 Jul 2026, 06:49 PM 👁 5

The village of Nepali Khuti in Assam was flattened by the worst floods in six decades, leaving residents without homes, crops, and basic infrastructure.

The village of Nepali Khuti, located in Assam’s flood‑prone region, was hit by unprecedented rainfall that triggered the most severe flooding in 60 years.

Heavy monsoon rains caused the nearby river to overflow, inundating homes, fields and the village’s main road. Early reports indicate that nearly all houses were damaged, and many crops were destroyed.

Assam’s state authorities have dispatched relief teams and set up temporary shelters. The Assam Disaster Management Authority has also called for additional resources from the central government.

Residents are facing shortages of food, clean water and medical supplies, and many are uncertain about when normalcy will return. Local leaders are urging the government to accelerate reconstruction efforts.
