The Assam government announced it will sponsor medical treatment for 76 children diagnosed with congenital heart disease.

The state of Assam has approved a programme to finance the treatment of seventy‑six children suffering from congenital heart disease. The initiative, unveiled by the health department, will cover the full cost of cardiac surgeries, post‑operative care and necessary medicines for the identified patients. Officials said the scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on families and improve survival rates among affected children. The programme is expected to be implemented through selected hospitals across the state, with the health ministry overseeing its rollout.
