Assam Rifles seize heroin worth over Rs 5 crore in Mizoram

Assam Rifles announced that a joint operation in Mizoram resulted in the recovery of heroin with an estimated street value exceeding Rs 5 crore. The seizure was carried out as part of the force's ongoing anti‑narcotics drive in the Northeast region, officials said. The contraband will be handed over to the relevant law‑enforcement agencies for further investigation and legal action. This large haul highlights the persistent challenge of drug trafficking through the Northeastern states and underscores the role of the paramilitary in curbing such illegal activities. No arrests have been reported so far, and the investigation remains ongoing.
